Biography
I joined the school of General Practice and Primary Care at the University of Glasgow in August 2019 where I am a General Practice Clinical Academic Fellow.
I currently work two days a week as a salaried GP and practice quality lead at Braefoot Medical Practice, NHS Lothian, in Edinburgh.
I work with the Audit Development Group and Scottish Improvement Foundation Skills Programme through NHS Education for Scotland, where I complete peer review work for GP trainees and first 5 GPs and quality improvement project and training facilitation.
I completed and NHS Education for Scotland General Practice Medical Education Fellowship in 2018 - 2019 which included postgraduate medical teaching experience and qualitative and quantitative research work in to General Practice workforce issues in Scotland.
I graduated from Newcastle University MBBS in 2009, having completed at intercalated MSc in Health Sciences (Public Health) with MRC studentship funding, in 2008. I completed General Practice training in Tower Hamlets, London in 2014.
My roles encompass a range of research, clinical, leadership, quality improvement and education activities.
Supervision
I am project co-supervisor to a student on the Global Health Intercalated BSc at the College of Medicine, Veterinary and Life Sciences at University of Glasgow.
Teaching
In my current Clinical Academic GP fellowship I am participating in facilitation of a journal club session for Global Health intercalated BSc students.
I have completed a Postgraduate Certificate in Clinical Education (Distinction) at University of Edinburgh in 2019.
I facilitated and led part of a series of teaching sessions for a programme of General Practice Specialty Trainee education for the West of Scotland GP Training Programme. This involved coordinating and leading days focusing on Dermatology and Palliative Care and Ethics, as well as leading teaching sessions.
