Biography
Lynsay Crawford is a GP and Senior Clinical lecturer.
She graduated from the University of Glasgow in 1991 and completed GP training in 1995. She was a GP Partner in Possilpark, a very deprived community in Glasgow , from 1998 to 2018, before moving to Forth Valley where is currently a GP Partner in Bonnybridge.
She was a Vocational Studies tutor for eight years before her appointment as the Deputy Director of Vocational Studies in 2014. In 2020 she was appointed the Director of Vocational Studies and is currently involved in assessment across all years, student GP electives, and SSCs (student selected components). Lynsay has a particular interest in the ‘Patient Voice’ and learning from people with lived experience.
In 2020 Lynsay was appointed the Lead for the COMET programme. COMET (Community Orientated Medical Experience Track) is Glasgow’s innovative optional GP-focussed curriculum which began in 2019 and gives selected medical students an enhanced and immersive experience of General Practice.
Lynsay is involved in Widening Participation to medicine via Medic Insight and the REACH programme.
In 2021, she became a Fellow of the Royal College of General Practitioners, in recognition of her contribution to general practice.
In 2022, Dr Crawford completed her Masters in Medical Education at the University of Dundee. Her dissertation focus was on the factors influencing students to apply for the COMET programme and choose general practice as a career. She is involved in the supervision of Masters students on the Health Professions Education programme.
Since 2022, Lynsay has been a permanent member on the Fitness to Study Panel across the University, which focuses on student welfare and seeks to support students encountering challenges which affect their ability to study and engage with wider University life.
Lynsay has been on the steering group of the GPs at the Deep End for 9 years and has a strong interest in the social determinants of health and health inequalities.
