Biography

Dr Heather Waddell is a Data Scientist and early-career researcher based in the Department of Public Health, with a background in multi-omics data analysis. She completed a PhD (Medical Research Doctoral Training Programme) at the University of Edinburgh, where she focused on elucidating the dysregulation of the circadian rhythms in individuals with critical illness (acute pancreatitis).

With extensive experience in R programming, Heather has worked with complex, multi-level datasets, including the Chilean National Health Survey, the Scottish Health Survey, and various NHS multi-omics and clinical datasets. She is also skilled in the application of Bayesian Networks to analyse and model complex data at a systems level.
