PHI-UK Policy Modelling for Health

What are we trying to achieve?

Our core challenge is to support policy decisions that intervene on the economic determinants of ill health and health inequalities.

Our Focus

  • Evidence-Based Policy Development: Our primary objective is to create a robust evidence base on the potential health benefits or harms of policy choices that affect the economic determinants of health and their societal distribution.
  • Understanding Causal Pathways: We aim to deepen our understanding of the causal pathways and temporal dynamics that link economic conditions, poor health, and health inequalities. We will explore how different interventions can disrupt these negative cycles.
  • Systems Science Research: Through our ambitious programme of systems science research, we aim to deliver new data, evidence, and understanding. We will engage the public with models to highlight our work across our three themes and across the wider PHI-UK network.

Collaborative Approach

Co-production and embedded delivery partnerships with policy actors, advocates, think tanks, and community organisations are key to our ethos and approach. These collaborations will help us maximise the real-world impact of our research and ensure that our findings are translated into effective policy interventions.
