The session, "Fuelling the Flame: Cultivating a Culture of Encouraging Teaching in Academia," at the Research, Teaching and Clinical Away Day emphasised that all academic staff have a role in supporting teaching within the School. Teaching workloads, outlined by College direct that:
• Learning, Teaching and Scholarship staff should have 70% teaching with 20% Scholarship and 10% General (i.e. non-teaching) admin in their role.
• Research and Teaching staff should have up to a 30% teaching load and
• Research Only staff should have a minimum 5% teaching load.
In SHW we have a very diverse student population with over 200 post-graduate taught (PGT) students across a range of on-campus and online distance learning (ODL) courses. Everyone’s support in delivering teaching will optimise the learning and teaching experience for our students and colleagues.
To help promote and demystify teaching and give ideas as to how everyone could get involved in teaching, we identified over 100 key teaching activities distilled across seven themes.
