Is there something you'd like to share about your experience of working or studying in Institute of Health and Wellbeing (including in the realm of equality, diversity and inclusion) that colleagues might find interesting or helpful, would relate to or feel empathy with?
As part of our efforts to make IHW's monthly newsletter, HAWKEYE, balanced, inclusive and relatable, we are looking for reflective, blog-type content to add to our recently-launched "IHW voices" section, so do get in touch if you would like to contribute.
Examples of pieces written from a more personal perspective in previous editions of HAWKEYE include:
Research-related
- Who am I (work edition)?
Laura Ward - Unpopular science: you can't please all of the people all of the time
Claire Hastie
Student-related
Black Lives Matter
- In that moment, I suddenly felt that I too could not breathe
Rayana Mohammed - It is unfair. It is wrong. It is heartbreaking. It hurts.
Patrice Reid - Black students and academics don't need performative allyship, we need change
Ruth Agbakoba
COVID-19
- Reflections on redeployment
Julie Langan Martin - I'm not sure of this world I'm working in
Suzy Syrett - Are you finished yet Mummy?
Miriam Yentumi - Keeping work going as well as caring for our children has been challenging
Chris Bunn - I started to feel there was something important I could help with
Katie Robb
200 words is plenty (although there is no strict word limit), the style can be informal, and we would welcome short pieces from ANYONE within the IHW community, both staff - research, teaching and professional services - and students.
We hope you find this an interesting, informative and enjoyable addition to HAWKEYE, and will consider contributing, either now or in the future. If you would like to discuss your idea for a piece, please contact jane.goodfellow@glasgow.ac.uk, or send your content direct to ihwadmin@glasgow.ac.uk.
