SHW Honorary Clinical Lecturer Abdul Jalloh reports back on presenting his important mental health research, conducted as part of the MSc in Global Mental Health, at an international conference in July 2023.
I had the enormous privilege of presenting my poster pitch titled "Community health workers' perceptions of depression and of barriers and facilitators in mental health care in Sierra Leone: a qualitative study” in the "Pitch your poster" session at the International Congress of the Royal College of Psychiatrists held in Liverpool from 10–13 July 2023.
The study was conducted in 2022, and it was a partial fulfillment requirement for the degree of MSc in Global Mental Health in the School of Health and Wellbeing, College of Medical, Veterinary and Life Sciences, University of Glasgow.
The conference was an exciting and rewarding experience for me as a Global Mental Health student. My attendance was co-sponsored by the University of Glasgow and the International Division (Africa) of the Royal College of Psychiatrists. I had the opportunity to present my research and insights to other professionals in the field and showcase my capabilities in assisting mental health professionals in their daily work.
