General Practice and Primary Care's Dr David Blane, Academic Lead for Scottish Deep End Project, reports back on a long-awaited event for UofG medical students!
Building on the success of previous student conferences in 2017 and 2018, the Third Deep End medical student conference was originally planned to take place in April 2020.
A certain global pandemic got in the way, but the conference finally took place in person at the Wolfson Medical School Building on Saturday 23 April 2022.
The event was jointly organised by General Practice and Primary Care’s David Blane and medical students Craig Anderson and Jodie McPherson from the UofG Medical School GP Society (which aims to raise awareness of careers in general practice). Included in the programme were:
- plenary presentations about Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs), Community Link Workers, and Inclusion Health
- workshops from the South Community Recovery Network, Medics Against Violence, and SAY Women.
An of this event is available to view.
Slides and handouts from this event are available on the main GPs at the Deep End website.
