Artist's impression of Clarice Pears BuildingA contract has been formally signed between the University and Multiplex to construct the new building for the Institute of Health and Wellbeing on the new Western campus.

The Clarice Pears Building, which has a project value of almost £50 million, will be located on the north west corner of the site, at the junction of University Place and Byres Road.

It will be the third major building to be constructed through the University’s £1 billion Campus Development Programme, with building scheduled to start later this year, and complete in summer 2021.

The new facility will bring staff currently working in our 10 different sites across the city together under one roof, whilst also increasing PGT and PGR capacity within the institute.

It will enhance our work preventing disease, improving health and wellbeing and reducing inequalities locally, nationally and globally.

Multiplex are the University’s key partner in the Campus Development, and are also leading on the construction of the James McCune Smith Learning Hub, the Research Hub as well as the infrastructure serving the new Western campus.
