Support for parents and carers
We lead by example in this important area. Our guidance for carers and PhD student maternity pay initiatives have informed University of Glasgow policies. We continue to be proactive with regards to carers – for example, promoting awareness of carers’ issues during national Carers Week.
SHW working groups
The role of the following groups includes identifying and addressing the needs of parents and carers:
- SHW Athena Swan maternity, paternity, parental and carer issues group
- SHW Athena Swan wellbeing of older workers and students (WOWS) group
SHW guidelines
- SHW core meeting hours policy
- SHW working on public holidays guideline
- SHW email guidance and etiquette (including contacting staff on leave)
- SHW facility to take unpaid leave for caring responsibilities in single days
