Research interests

Overview:

My research is focused on using high-resolution micro-analysis techniques, such as scanning electron microscopy (SEM), Energy Dispersive X-ray Spectroscopy (EDS) and micro-X-ray Computed Tomogrpahy (XCT) to investigate the evolution of early solar system materials. The majority of my work to date has focused on using XCT analysis to explore the Mighei-like carbonaceous (CM) chondrites to better understand the evolution of C-type asteroids.

Chondrules:

Chondrules are some of the fundermental building blocks of planetary systems and are characteristic of the chondritic meteorites. Forming as molten or semi-molten droplets in the early solar system chondrules eventually accreted together to form asteroids and ealry planetary embryos. In many respects chondrules are poorly understood objects with numerous formation mechanisms and dispersement theories suggested (...and firecly debated).

My research on chondrules focuses on exploring their physical and chemical properties, investigating links between the chondrules of different meteoritic classes to try gain a better understand of their distribution and make links betweens populations.
