I am currently looking into the provenance and low temperature evolution of sediment samples taken from a borehole extracted from Glasgow area. The sediments retrieved form the borehole correspond to sediments from the Midland Valley Basin that were deposited during the Carboniferous period. Little is known about the evolution of the western extent of the Midland Valley, due to the covering of bedrock by later glacial deposits and urban development.

The data acquired in this study will yield new insights into the geological evolution of this sector of the Midland Valley and will be integrated with and interpreted alongside other datasets (e.g. from the eastern portion of the Midland Valley) to investigate similarities and differences in basin evolution across the Midland Valley.
