Welcome to the University of Glasgow Cosmogenic Nuclide Laboratory
The technique of using Terrestrial Cosmogenic Nuclides to accurately date geomorphic features of the landscape has been employed for some time now. It is a continuously developing technique that has been applied to many varied aspects of the Earth Sciences. It is predominantly applied to determine the age of exposure or burial for rocks that are part of a larger geomorphological feature.
At the University of Glasgow, we have the capability to process samples from the stage of rock crushing, through mineral separation, and all the way up to Atomic absorbtion spectroscopy (AAS). Through our well-established relationship with SUERC, we can continue to process samples to completion with Accelerator mass spectrometry (AMS) at the SUERC facility.
