Young Europeans in Scotland Podcast Workshops
In Summer 2024, we invited 7 young people to design and record podcasts as part of a research series focused on the lives of young Europeans in Scotland. The workshops, held over four sessions, intended to create resources that explore young Europeans' experiences in Scotland. During the first ‘Design’ workshop, participants decided on the podcast themes, then recorded their episodes at The Podcast Studio Glasgow.
In December, we launched the 2-part podcast series, I’m Migrant, which explores themes of identity, culture, and belonging among young Europeans living in Scotland. The podcast features stories from young people in Glasgow who migrated to Scotland, either as children or adults, and highlights the issues shaping migration and integration today. Each episode brings forward personal stories, shedding light on the everyday experiences behind the politics of migration.
In the first episode, Alan, Maja, and Adrian share their experiences growing up as Polish kids in Glasgow, discussing their connection to Polish culture, imposter syndrome, and their views on the term ‘immigrant’. They also reflect on the experiences of Yuliia, a young Ukrainian displaced by war. Episode two features Katja, Mila, and Tamaze, who discuss the differences between moving to Scotland as a child versus an adult, and share their reflections on studying, working, and navigating life in Glasgow.
‘I’m Migrant’ is available on Apple Podcasts, Spotify and Amazon Music/Audible.
