Digital Resources
Virtual field trip
The first resource we have on show is our virtual field trip to Siccar Point led by Dr Amanda Owen. This resource is aimed at 15-18 year olds, introducing them into the world of field work, how we interpret ancient environments, and how we record data in the field. There are a series of short (5-10 minutes) Youtube videos, links for which can be found in the document.
Scavenger hunt
The second, an introduction to geoscience thinking, is a presentation by Dr Hannah Mathers. Use online interfaces to solve Scottish geo-mysteries – what can lift boulders to the top of a mountain, why do rivers disappear and what decides where you site a graveyard?
Google Earth tour
Use Google Earth to fly through Glasgow and the surrounds finding out about geo-issues, fieldwork sites and the relationship between Earth Science and society. Photos and site guides give you a virtual fieldtrip experience.
