Describe your role in the University?

My role mainly involves providing support and guidance on the use of lasers and optical systems, as well as various other electro-mechanical laboratory instrumentation, contributing to the design and construction of experiments, investigating faults and carrying out repairs to equipment.

When did you join the University of Glasgow?

I worked as a laser manufacturing engineer for 5 years then joined the university in 2022.

What skills did you bring to the University?

A good understanding of various laser sources and their designs, as well as a knowledge of health and safety in this area.

What Projects are you currently working on?

I’ve recently started providing support to the new ANALOGUE project. This will be a state-of-the-art facility offering a fully automated semiconductor processing platform.

What are your impressions about Glasgow as a city?

It’s a lovely place with the friendliest people. I’ve lived here coming on 12 years now and still really enjoy it.

Do you have any mentors in your professional life?

One of the benefits in being part of such a large technical team with a huge spread of knowledge.

What do you like to do when you aren’t working?

I like to play and write music, my main instrument being guitar. As well as this, I enjoy attending live music events.
