My job is ‘Lead Electronics Technician’ in the James Watt School of Engineering at the University of Glasgow.
Describe your role in the University?
I work as part of a team of Electronics Technicians providing advice and support about Electronic and Electrical issues to Researchers and Students at the School of Engineering. The team can design, make and repair a wide range of electronic items ranging from tiny devices to specialist process equipment.
What does a typical/average day look like for you?
No two days are the same, which is probably why I’m still here after 30-something years.

Can you make/fix….? or How do I…..?
What are your impressions about Glasgow as a city?
It’s home.
How has the University changed since you joined?
The University has become much more commercial in its culture and mindset. The management culture and processes are now very similar to any other large public sector organisation.
