Industrial aerodynamics and wind engineering
This research theme involves industrial aerodynamics analysis of large-scale structures and large-Reynolds number flow. We investigate flow and complex fluid-structure interactions over urban environments, offshore and onshore wind turbines, long-span bridge structures, to name a few.
Research topics include:
- Development of low-order models for analysing fluid-structure interaction on bridge structures and detection of flutter and vortex-induced vibration-led instabilities
- Analysing high-speed and high angle of attack flows in offshore wind turbines leading to flow separation and fluid-structure interaction phenomena. Designing low-weight flexible wind turbine blades with low-order aerodynamic models.
