Aims

The 3rd UK-China Teaching, Learning, and Educational Technology (TILE-TEC) Conference aims to bring together scholars, researchers, educators, students, and professionals from the UK and China to discuss the evolving role of Generative AI in higher education, with a focus on transnational education (TNE). With the rapid development of AI technologies, particularly Generative AI, the higher education sector faces unique challenges and unprecedented opportunities. This conference provides a platform for participants to exchange insights, share innovative practices, and explore the implications of AI-driven tools in transforming teaching, learning, and educational technologies.

Scope

The rise of Generative AI offers higher education new ways to enhance instructional design, student engagement, and assessment. However, it also raises important questions about academic integrity, data privacy, and the potential impact on faculty roles and student learning outcomes. This conference will explore how AI technologies can be leveraged to address current educational challenges, ensure inclusive and equitable learning environments, and foster innovation across institutions. Additionally, we will investigate strategies to integrate AI responsibly into curricula and identify best practices for preparing students for an AI-driven future.

Themes and Topics

We invite proposals that address one or more of the following themes related to Generative AI in higher education. Submissions may be for oral presentations, posters, workshops, or panel discussions:

  • Generative AI in Teaching and Learning:
Exploring how AI-generated content and tools can be used to enhance instructional design, adapt to students' learning styles, and automate feedback.
  • AI and Academic Integrity:
Addressing concerns around plagiarism, authorship, and originality in an era where AI can produce high-quality, human-like responses.
  • Student Engagement through AI:
Investigating how AI-driven methods can boost student interaction and participation, and improve personalization in learning pathways.
  • AI in Assessment and Feedback:
Exploring how AI can transform formative and summative assessments, streamline grading processes, and provide timely, meaningful feedback.
  • Ethical Implications and Data Privacy in AI Applications:
Evaluating the ethical dimensions of deploying AI tools in education, including concerns about data protection, algorithmic bias, and equitable access.
  • Preparing Students for an AI-Driven Future:
Examining curriculum design to ensure students acquire the necessary AI literacy and transferable skills for future employment.
  • The Role of Faculty in AI-Powered Learning Environments:
Discussing how AI may reshape teaching roles, redefine pedagogical approaches, and support faculty development in the digital age.
