About the Award

The TESOL Graduate Skills Award 2024/25 will equip you to become an Engaged, Learned, and Transformative TESOL Graduate.

As part of the College of Social Sciences, the TESOL Graduate Skills Award is administered via the Adam Smith Skills Award.

What is it?

The Graduate Skills Award is TESOL's personal development and skills programme. It provides a framework for postgraduate students to gain formal recognition for the extra-curricular experience you gain during your time at Glasgow.

The award provides you the opportunity to develop the skills you need to succeed in the workplace through a range of activities, lectures, and a series of workshops.

What does it involve?

Completing activities and taking part in events that encompass our values, provides you with a set of skills and knowledge that will enhance your University experience and develop capacity for personal development, networking, employability and career planning.

We have developed three categories that represent the areas within the TESOL programme which we believe provide you with the skills and knowledge to enhance your student experience and develop your skills.

  • My Development
  • My Community
  • My Future

How it works?

Graduate Skills Award: Complete a minimum of four activities, one from each of the three categories, My Development, My Community and My Future, plus a fourth of your choice.

You will complete an ongoing activity log and submit a final reflective log. More information will be provided by the TESOL Team.

There will be TESOL-specific events to support the award throughout the year.

More information will be provided on the MEd & MSc TESOL Gateway Moodle.
