Biography
I joined the School of Education as an Associate Tutor in the MSc Educational Studies programme in May 2021. I hold a PhD in Education from the University of Glasgow. The title of my thesis was “Understanding Teachers’ Professional Learning”. In my PhD I used a mixed methods approach to investigate teachers’ professional learning in Scotland. I interviewed key figures from different levels within the education hierarchy including policy makers, local authority representatives and teachers.
I hold an MEd in English Language Teaching from the University of Exeter and a B.A. in English Language and Literature. I am a qualified English language instructor with a proven track record of academic teaching and supervision of well-diversified groups of students in different countries in the Middle East, including Kuwait, the UAE, Turkey, Jordan and Syria.
I hold a diploma in translation from the Chartered Institute of Linguists. I am a certified and accredited English–Arabic translator. I have been working as a professional English – Arabic translator and interpreter for the past fifteen years including more than five years of UK experience, working mainly for NHS.

My main research interests include, but are not limited to:
- Professional learning.
- TESOL.
- Comparative and international education.
- Education policy.
