Biography
Dr Florence Halstead is a Post-Doctoral Research Associate whose research focuses on the intersection between society, climate change and education. Her work utilises Participatory Action Research and Community Collaboration. Her research experience spans numerous international contexts, and seeks to utilise place-based initiatives to mobilise sustainable, climate resilient transitions.
She is currently working within the Community Collaboration workstream within GALLANT, (£10.2 m) based within the Centre for Sustainable Solutions and funded by the Natural Environment Research Council (NERC).
Research interests
Florence has a keen interest in how spatial, temporal and cultural contexts influence individual and community environmental perceptions and behaviours. She is particularly focussed on how collective action within communities can raise climate conciousness, aleviate localised climate challenges, and help manage climate anxieties.
Florence works with a range of communities across all generations within her work, however much of her research thus far has sought to engage children and youth.
