Professor Arizpe presented a paper on literacy as a landmark in narratives of migration for children within the Latin American and Caribbean context
Prof Evelyn Arizpe was invited to present a paper at the virtual pre-congress seminar “Ficciones para mundos cambiantes” which took place on 13 and 14 January 2021. The seminar was hosted by the Centre for Educational Justice of the Pontificial University of Chile (PUC Santiago) and involved specialists in children’s literature from around Latin America and Spain presenting research on “Memory and collective readings” (Memorias y lecturas de lo colectivo). The focus of Prof Arizpe’s paper was literacy as a landmark in narratives of migration in children’s literature within the Latin American and Caribbean context. This seminar was intended for Spanish speakers and was a pre-congress event for the International Society for Research on Children’s Literature (IRSCL) Congress which will take place in Santiago, Chile in October 2021 in a blended form. Prof Arizpe is the current President of IRSCL and the Congress will mark 50 years of this academic society.
