Biography
I joined University of Glasgow as Lecturer in Phonetics in January 2023. Prior to that, I was Lecturer in Phonology and Phonetics at University of Essex (2020-2022). I completed my postdoctoral training at University of York, Department of Psychology researching speech perception under cognitive load (2018-2019). I obtained my PhD in Speech, Hearing and Phonetic Sciences at University College London (2018).
My research is concerned with speech perception and hearing, mostly in adverse listening conditions (under cognitive load / divided attention, in background noise, or when trying to understand someone speaking in an accent or language different from your own). I use a combination of experimental techniques from psychoacoustics and cognitive neuroscience. Recently I have also been studying language and accent attitudes.
I welcome PhD applicants interested in pursuing projects related to speech perception, hearing science, phonetics (including sociophonetics), cognitive psychology and experimental phonology.
