Events and Activities
Our regular activities include
- the Finnegans Wake reading group, which brings together a wide range of participants for weekly meetings
- the Transatlantic Literary Women series of free public talks, workshops, symposia, and a reading group, all sponsored by the US Embassy/British Association of American Studies (BAAS) Small Grants Programme
- Glasgow’s Socialist Theory and Movements Research Network, which hosts a regular series of interdisciplinary seminars and conferences for staff and students.
- The Infrastructure Humanities Group, which runs activities in many formats, including practioner workshops, reading group meetings and open talks.
We have hosted hosted numerous major events, including the December 1910 Centenary Conference; the inaugural conference for the British Association for Modernist Studies; the Contradictory Woolf conference in collaboration with Glasgow Women’s Library; the Edwardian Ford Madox Ford Conference; Jonathan Franzen and Contemporary Realisms; a conference marking the fiftieth anniversary of the publication of CLR James’s Beyond a Boundary, and more recently the Muriel Spark Centenary Symposium, in collaboration with the National Library of Scotland, and the Irish and Scottish Studies and the State of the Nations conference, a network event sponsored by the Royal Society of Edinburgh.
