Dr. Katherine Heavey Our dear colleague and friend Dr. Katherine Heavey has died after some months of illness
Our dear colleague and friend Dr. Katherine Heavey has died after some months of illness. Katherine was a brilliant scholar, an inspirational teacher, and a much-loved colleague. Her work on early modern myth and classical reception was widely admired, including her path-breaking book The Early Modern Medea: Medea in English Literature, 1558-1688 (Palgrave 2015). Anyone who had the good fortune to hear Katherine lecture on Shakespeare’s History plays – resplendent with crown and sword – will never forget the experience. All of us in English Literature at the University of Glasgow will miss Katherine beyond measure, as will her students, colleagues across the School, College, University, and her wider scholarly community. Our thoughts are with Katherine’s family at this sad time.
If anyone would like to send a message for inclusion in a book of remembrance that will be passed on to Katherine’s family, please forward them to: Adrian.Streete@glasgow.ac.uk
