Cambridge crystallographic database and software

Chemistry normally renews an annual license for the Cambridge Crystallographic database and associated software. This is a Uni-wide site license and covers teaching and research. The software is available for MS-Windows, Mac OSX and linux. The world’s largest database of small-molecule organic and metal-organic crystal structure data, the CSD is managed by the Cambridge Crystallographic Data Centre (CCDC). It contains over 1.25million structures and sophisticated associated search and visualisation software. In spite of the name, it is not only of use or interest in the field of crystallography. The mercury software is a useful visualisation tool including for making illustrations for publication, and conquest is the main search tool. Mercury can be used for your own molecules without installing the full (large) database.

Our license covers only staff and students in the University of Glasgow and must not be shared otherwise.

Installation:

If it is not already installed on the computer you wish to use, there is an 'online' installer which downloads the components directly from the internet when run. Note this may mean it downloads 30-40GB of files when you install, so you may want to do that on a fast (university, wired) network. Both the small installer program and the activation code are available at the sharepoint download site:

This sharepoint link which will need your campus login and password.

If you don't have install rights on your computer, or you have trouble installing, please let us know at https://www.gla.ac.uk/help (search for cose it)
