Research Interests
Drew Hammond is a composer and musician based in Glasgow, Scotland. Born in Central Kentucky, he studied music at Guilford College in North Carolina and spent his time in the late 1990s touring in bands. In 2002 he moved to Glasgow, Scotland to study composition with Prof Bill Sweeney , and was awardeded a PHD in composition in 2009. Since then he has taught numerous music courses at the University of Glasgow and the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland. His focus is in contemporary music composition, including, chamber, choral, and mixed media; 20th Century avant garde; music education; jazz; and popular music.
