Scottish Pop Ideas Network
Scottish Pop Ideas Network
SPIN (Scottish Pop Ideas Network) is a new group of scholars, producers and promoters of popular music based in Scotland.
It is organised by Matt Brennan and John Williamson (University of Glasgow); Tamara Schlesinger (School of Audio Engineering), Jo Collinson Scott (University of the West of Scotland), Marion Jago (University of Edinburgh) and Mark Percival (Queen Margaret University).
It meets twice a year, once in Glasgow (in September) and once in Edinburgh (in May).
Each meeting is based around a particular theme.
The first, in September 2019, was based around music and mental health and included contributions from Jo Collinson-Scott and David Scott (UWS), Halina Rifai (Sonic Hug), Robert Allan (Glasvegas) and Raymond MacDonald (University of Edinburgh).
The next meeting will be in Edinburgh after COVID restrictions have been lifted.
SPIN operates an email list which carries a range of news items, including details of upcoming meetings.
