Professor Tore Slaatta
Professor Tore Slaatta is a political sociologist and professor working in the specialised fields of media, culture and communication. For 13 years, until 2016, he held a professorship at the Department of Media and Communication at the University of Oslo (UiO) and directed research projects on media, power and democracy, financial journalism, industrial public relations, international publishing and European cultural politics. He is affiliated with ARENA, Centre of European Studies at UiO and has been an External Examiner and frequent visitor to CCPR. As Secretary General of the Norwegian Non-Fiction Authors and Translators Association (www.nffo.no) (2016-19) he participated in European cultural policy-making concerning the EU digital copyright directive and authors' income issues. He is presently an independent researcher working on a project about the politicisation of culture, artistic autonomy and freedom of speech in Europe.
