Coinciding with the launch of their new book 'The Rise and Fall of the UK Film Council', Gillian Doyle, Philip Schlesinger and Raymond Boyle of CCPR led a KE event and panel discussion at the BFI Reuben Library at the Southbank in London on October 5th. The event, which centred on findings of an AHRC-funded project on the history of the UKFC carried out in CCPR, provoked lively discussion about film support and cultural policy in the UK. The Rise and Fall of the UK Film Council draws on interviews with leading film executives, politicians and industry stakeholders to trace the fascinating history of this cultural support body and reflects on the lessons to be drawn from its experience.
