To push forward new thinking on CREATe’s socio-cultural research, Philip Schlesinger convened The Lateral Seminar, which took place on 16 March. Attended by Raymond Boyle (Glasgow) Martin Kretschmer (Glasgow) Angela McRobbie (Goldsmiths), Keith Negus (Goldsmiths), Burkhard Schaefer (Edinburgh), John Street (UEA) and Robin Williams (Edinburgh), the one-day workshop identified key focuses for future work. These included: critique of the creative economy and policy; rethinking business models; new analyses of creative labour; relations between intermediaries real and virtual; and resituating value.
