Philip Schlesinger gave a series of talks during the intensive media and communications conference fortnight that began in mid-June.

He first spoke on the changing research economy and autonomy at the closing plenary panel at the Media@LSE 10th Anniversary conference on 16 June. Next came a panel paper on academic expertise and cultural policy-making at ICA 2013 on 19 June. Philip was then a plenary speaker and roundtable chair at the ‘Advancing Media Production Research’, ICA post-conference/IAMCR pre-conference event at the University of Leeds on 24 June. Written with Gillian Doyle, then came a paper on digitisation and the news media, delivered at IAMCR 2013 in Dublin on 26 June.

His mini-talkathon concluded back home in Glasgow at the Screen Studies Conference 2013, with his closing plenary lecture, ‘Reflections on the constitution of a national screen agency’ on 30 June. He is relieved to have no immediate further speaking engagements.
