Raymond Boyle gave an online lecture on 18th November at the launch of a new collection of essays on the footballing icon Diego Maradona. Diego Maradona: A Socio-Cultural Study is edited by Pablo Brescia and Mariano Paz and is first book in English to closely examine the life of Diego Maradona from socio-cultural perspectives, exploring how his status as an icon, a popular sporting hero, and a political figurehead has been culturally constructed, reproduced, and manipulated. Raymond Boyle's chapter, Maradona and Britain: An Unforgettable Affair, examined British media representations of the player from 1979 until his death in 2020.
