Biography
I completed my undergraduate medical degree at the University of Dundee graduating MB ChB with Honours in 2014. I graduated with the George Rankin Tudhope Prize for the top mark in written medical finals, the Heller Prize and the John Duke Stewart Memorial Prize. I completed an intercalated Bachelor of Medical Science (BMSc) degree in Forensic and Legal Medicine. I undertook a project examining the relationship between post-mortem ketoacidosis and tissue steatosis, graduating with first class honours in 2012. I was appointed to the academic foundation programme in Glasgow in 2014 before being appointed to the Glasgow Academic Training Environment (GATE) for core medical training in 2016. I gained Membership of the Royal College of Physicians MRCP (UK) in 2017. I was appointed to higher specialty training in Diabetes and Endocrinology/General Internal Medicine in the West of Scotland in 2018.
I am currently a clinical research fellow completing an MD examining the role of adjunct therapy in type 1 diabetes under the superivision of Prof John Petrie, Dr James Boyle and Dr Robert Lindsay. A significant component of this role will be helping with the forthcoming TTT1 (Triple Therapy in Type 1) Diabetes Trial. This is a JDRF funded international clinical trial recruiting participants in Glasgow and Buffalo, New York, USA examining the role of dapagliflozin and semaglutide in addition to insulin in type 1 diabetes.
