Biography

Dr Greig Logan's research investigates the effects of exercise and diet on the prevention and management of vascular and metabolic diseases from the molecular to the whole-body level.

His research interests include:

  • The interactions between physical activity, energy balance, adiposity and disease risk
  • The mechanisms by which exercise regulates insulin sensitivity
  • The potential of community organisations, such as professional sports clubs (e.g. football and rugby clubs) and workplaces to deliver health behaviour change interventions that are attractive and acceptable to at-risk groups
  • Increasing cycling levels in the UK (working with British Cycling and HSBC UK)
  • Why certain population groups, particularly South Asians, appear to be particularly susceptible to the adverse effects of a 'westernised' lifestyle and how lifestyle interventions can modulate this excess risk
