Research interests
Associate Professor Barbara Meyer from the School of Health Sciences, University of Wollongong, Wollongong (just south of Sydney in NSW), Australia, is an Honorary Visiting Research Fellow at the University of Glasgow.
Barbara is the current Director of the Metabolic Research Centre at the University of Wollongong and their primary focus is on lipidomics from basic science through to clinical trials (University of Wollongon Research Profile).
Barbara is also the current President of the Nutrition Society of Australia (NSA) for a 2 year term (2012-2013), after which she will become Past President of NSA for a further 2 years (Nutrition Society of Australia http://www.nsa.asn.au).
Barbara has a keen research interest in omega-3 polyunsaturated fatty acids and their relationship to health and various disease states. Barbara collaborates with Dr Dilys Freeman in the area of lipid and fatty acid metabolism in healthy and complicated pregnancies such as pre-eclampsia.
