Laura Gonzalez Trueba tells us about her transition from PhD to Research Associate at the University Of Singapore.
My PhD journey at the University of Glasgow, funded by the British Heart Foundation, has been an incredible experience filled with challenges, discoveries, and growth. Focused on cardiovascular research and genome editing, I spent years in the lab exploring the mechanisms underlying collagen mutations.
After completing my lab work, I transitioned into a Research Associate role at the National University of Singapore, where I expanded my expertise in translational medicine. In this role, my focus has shifted to deciphering the mechanisms underlying Cancer-Related Stroke, bridging my background in cardiovascular science with new avenues of research.
In January, I reached a major milestone—I passed my viva! This marks the end of one chapter and the beginning of exciting new opportunities. I am deeply grateful to my mentors, peers, and the University of Glasgow for their unwavering support, as well as for equipping me with the skills that have led me to where I am today. I look forward to the journey ahead and to continuing my contributions to cardiovascular research.
