Dr Terry Quinn chaired the organising committee for the annual Scottish Dementia Research Consortium (SDRC) meeting which was held on the 9th and 10th May.

It has a been a busy few weeks of conference activity for SCMH researchers.

Dr Terry Quinn chaired the organising committee for the annual Scottish Dementia Research Consortium (SDRC) meeting. The meeting was held on 9 and 10th May at the Radisson Blu, Glasgow with a further civic reception at the City Chambers.

This was the first in-person meeting for the group since 2019 and it was great to have over 100 people at the venue. Many more have registered to watch the materials that will be archived on the website. Amongst the delegates was the keynote speaker, former first minister Henry McLeish who spoke about the exciting developments in brain health research in Scotland.

The theme of the meeting was dementia diagnosis, and we were able to draw upon a lot of the recent SCMH research around assessment of cognitive issues – including SCMH post-doctoral researcher Jodi Watt, who was awarded ‘best oral presentation’ for her work on a new imaging marker of dementia. Terry also went home with a prize, the annual award for the Scottish researcher who has published the most papers in the field of dementia in the last twelve months.
