We are extremely grateful of the hard work and dedication to provide high quality teaching in SCMH that David Hughes has carried out, especially in the last year which is why we are delighted to announce that he is amongst those shortlisted for the National Papin Prize in the category ‘Contribution to teaching’ . He is solely responsible for the planning and logistic organisation involved for the School’s ‘Masters in Clinical Pharmacology’ practical teaching lab. He has over 40 years’ technical experience with in-depth knowledge and expertise in HPLC techniques which he brings each year to our students providing an outstanding course experience.

David’s commitment to educating his students guarantees they all receive excellent skills and knowledge from the class as he quietly identifies individuals who may need extra support or guidance.

This year he rose to the challenge of organising and supplying additional sessions, running extra labs to ensure the safety of all staff and students working within the building during COVID -19 restrictions. This was one the handful of practical teaching labs that ran during level 3/4 restrictions as David worked tirelessly to find solutions to run the course while ensuring the school was COVID compliant.
