On the 26th of April 2023, the Graham Wilson Traveling Scholarship meeting took place at BHF Glasgow Cardiovascular Research Centre and was chaired by Professor Christian Delles.

The fund was created to honour the late Professor Graham Wilson. The fund is held by the Greater Glasgow and Clyde NHS endowment Funds Office and offers support to junior members of staff and students who wish to visit a centre in the UK or abroad to learn specific clinical or research techniques, particularly those transferable to Glasgow. Professor Wilson’s principal interests were in clinical pharmacology, hypertension, endocrinology/metabolism, gastroenterology, and medical education. More than one scholarship is awarded each year, each having a maximum of around £1,000.

This year the Graham Wilson Scholarship attracted a number of competitive applications and Awards were made to Cara Trivett, Sol Olivera and Chloe Gulliver at the annual Graham Wilson traveling Scholarship Presentations.  The Awards were presented by Dr. John Wilson (Graham and Elizabeth Wilson’s son) who spoke about the legacy of the Graham Wilson Scholarship and the work of his parents.  The audience, including additional Wilson Family members (John’s brother Richard and sister Rosie), listened to stimulating presentations from previous years’ winners: Josie Fullerton, Rebecca Rooney and Jack Beazer who met with Dr. Wilson afterwards to discuss their research further.
