Two MSP's visit SCMH for Lab Tour and Discussion.
On the 7th March 2023 SCMH hosted a visit from Member of the Scottish Parliament. The visit from MSP’s Anas Sarwar and Jackie Baillie, was an opportunity to discuss the capacity in our health service and the barriers to students thinking about studying medical research in Scotland.
SCMH staff including Prof. Christina Delles, Prof. Stuart Nicklin, Dr Josie Fullerton and Dr Sheon Samji held a meet and greet followed by an open discussion with the MSPs. This was then followed with a tour of the labs with presentations from Dr Josie Fullerton, Dr Eline Huethorst, Cara Trivett and Humaira Parveen.
During the visit, the MSPs were shown around the labs, where they had the chance to see the latest research within Cardiovascular and Metabolic Heath.
One of the highlights of the tour was getting to see poster presentations from staff and students. The MSPs were impressed by the quality of the work presented.
