Members of SCMH attend Technicians Conference
The second Central Scotland Technicians Conference was held on the 6th June in the Hunter Halls, University of Glasgow. Mohammad Ali Salik, technician Commitment Co-ordinator did a fantastic job organising the event, while Nicola Britton was on the committee.
This was the the second year the conference has been held but this time Edinburgh University was also involved and we had invited representation from 50% places for University of Glasgow technical staff; 45% places for University of Edinburgh. Heriot-Watt, Napier, Strathclyde; Glasgow school of Arts; 5% places for representatives from other universities.
There was a touching moment when they read out a letter from Val Gordon who had recently passed - Val played a pivotal role in the technician commitment not only at Edinburgh University but in encouraging others across the sector.
This years themes at the conference were Visibility, Recognition, Career Development and Sustainability.
