Hypertension Awareness Events – Glasgow Blood Pressure Clinic Team
We are thrilled to share the remarkable achievements of the Glasgow Blood Pressure Clinic team. Their dedication to public engagement and outstanding contributions in the field have earned them widespread recognition, including winning the prestigious MVLS Engagement Award 2021 for Enhancing Engagement of Ethnic Minorities in Health Research.
In May 2023, coinciding with May Measurement Month and World Hypertension Day, the Glasgow Blood Pressure Team organized a series of impactful events. These events took place at the University of Glasgow and at various locations, including Fairfield Club Govan, Glasgow Gurdwara (Albert Drive), and Glasgow Central Mosque. The team's tireless efforts allowed them to measure blood pressure readings for approximately 500 individuals.
The success of these events would not have been possible without the invaluable contributions of our dedicated volunteers. The team was composed of research nurses from the Glasgow Clinical Research facility, medical students, junior doctors, early career researchers, medical consultants and nursing students. Their unwavering commitment and expertise played a pivotal role in ensuring accurate measurements and maximizing the number of individuals who benefited from this vital initiative. Together, they have significantly increased awareness about hypertension and cardiovascular health.
We extend our heartfelt gratitude to all the volunteers who selflessly dedicated their time and expertise to the hypertension awareness events. We would also like to express our appreciation to the participants who attended and actively engaged in these educational activities.
