Kyle provides a summary of her first year as a BHF 4 year student

Kyle Shead summarises his first year of the BHF 4yar programme.

Completing three 12-week rotations as part of the MRes within the BHF 4-year programme has proven challenging and busy, but nonetheless highly rewarding. I finished my undergraduate studies in Glasgow to start a new journey within the same city- and I do not think I could have chosen a better programme to pursue a PhD in! Over the past year I have undertaken projects in the labs of; Dr Rachel Myles, Prof. George Baillie and Prof Tom Van Agtmael- where I thoroughly enjoyed my short stint in each. The rotations help us to gain a breadth of experience from data-centric to in vitro and in vivo projects, enabling me to expand and branch my skills to places I would never have thought they could. The help of experts within each of the groups, who not only accommodate us but also make us feel at home, has proven invaluable over the past year - from learning new techniques to improving presentation skills I am very grateful for everyone who has been involved! I would like to thank the course directors (Prof. Eleanor, Prof. Godfrey Smith and Dr. Lorraine Work)  and Ruth Bennett for running the programme. I look forward to the next three years completing my PhD within SCMH working with Dr. Ninian Lang, Dr. Rachel Myles and Prof. Godfrey Smith.
