Dr Graeme Sills, Director of Education in the School of Cardiovascular & Metabolic Health, has recently been appointed to the Education & Training Committee of the British Pharmacological Society (BPS; www.bps.ac.uk) for a period of three years, commencing in January 2023. Graeme will also serve as the Education representative on the BPS Meetings Committee.

Graeme says, I’m honoured to be offered this prestigious role within the BPS. It represents a fantastic opportunity for me to influence the future of pharmacology education in the UK and beyond and, as a product of the degree that I now teach, to do so from a University of Glasgow perspective.

The BPS is amongst the foremost learned societies in pharmacology worldwide and its core curriculum, which has recently been revised in accordance with the principles of EDI, is the blueprint upon which many modern pharmacology degrees are based. I look forward to working with colleagues from across the UK in implementing the ‘Inclusive Pharmacology’ curriculum both here in Glasgow and elsewhere.

I’m also delighted to serve as the Education representative on the BPS Meetings Committee. This is a hugely important position that carries responsibility for ensuring that pharmacology education features prominently at BPS workshops, meetings and conferences and is accordingly recognised as one of the central pillars of the society’s activities.
