- By leveraging established, Indonesian, community health clinics called Posbindu, the project called TANDEM (Targeting Non-communicable Diseases through Interactive Health Ecosystems), developed an innovative proof of concept for digital health solutions (video). Using a pioneering interactive digital health ecosystem, TANDEM brings together business model, healthcare and data analytic solutions in a novel way to screen for and manage NCDs. This new interface of digital technology and a social business model connects key players - hospitals, patients, health workers - to combine and exchange expertise and knowledge across countries, disciplines, industry and academia in the UK and Indonesia. TANDEM has led to major health and social improvements in community health clinics in Indonesia: it is improving the care and management of NCD patients, enabling early diagnosis and developing new strategies for targeted therapy, controlling healthcare costs, improving patient quality of life and promoting healthcare policies. Moreover, it exemplifies how UofG plays its part as a global citizen, engaging to make tomorrow better through a creative solution with real, life-changing impact.
- Nuran is an Academic Lead and supported by Prof. Robbie Paton with the European Space Agency (ESA), UK Space Agency and the telecommunication provider O2, in a research project to develop and commercialise the technology needed for driverless cars (see video (18) Smart, Green, Connected Vehicles- The Future of Transportation - DARWIN PROJECT - YouTube). Under ESA’s programme of Advanced Research in Telecommunications Systems (ARTES), a budget of €29 million has been ringfenced for Project DARWIN, €5 million of this budget has been allocated for the first phase. Nuran is leading for developing responsible business models and collaborative innovation frameworks for different use cases in sectors such as public, retail, transportation, and health. As part of this project, University of Glasgow opened the DARWIN innovation laboratory to provide an interactive learning and collaboration space.
