Biography
Javier is a senior higher education administrator, consultant in strategy and SCM, and lecturer. In September 2017 he became the MBA Director and Senior Lecturer at the University of Glasgow Adam Smith Business School. Between May 1995 and August 2017 he was a faculty member of the School of Management at UniAndes in Bogota,Colombia, where he was Dean of the School, Head of both the Executive MBA and the FT MBA programmes; Director of the Global Consulting Practicum, organised by The Wharton Business School, and Coordinator of International Affairs. He has served in accreditation Peer Review Teams of AACSB and EQUIS. He was elected President of the Executive Board of the Latin American Council of Management Schools (CLADEA), appointed for the AACSB Latin American and Caribbean Advisory Council, and appointed for the AACSB Initial Accreditation Committee.
Javier promotes initiatives to encourage research and ISI publications among faculty, to facilitate international accreditation processes and to implement an assurance of learning system and policies. He is leading a thorough review process of the Glasgow MBA programme.
He is member of the Complex Adaptive Supply Networks Research Accelerator (CASN-RA) at ASU.
Javier has been an adviser for the Supply and Procurement Executive Board of ECOPETROL. He has been consultant to Bogotá Mayor Office – Secretary of Planning on Defining the Supply Business for Bogota – Region; Transmares Group and Procafecol S.A. In addition to his long academic career, as a Mechanical Engineer he was the Technical Manager for SAC Steel Structures and the Design Manager for Klein Mechanics.
He holds a PhD in Business and Management from the University of Glasgow, an MSc in Manufacturing Systems Engineering from Lehigh University (USA), and a BSc in Mechanical Engineering from UniAndes, Colombia.

Grants
Established the first professorship chair for UniAndes School of Management securing £117,000 donation per year from the Kühne Foundation.
Obtained approval from the UniAndes Board of Trustees to invest £4.3 million to open facilities for Executive Education in Cartagena-Colombia in 2018.
