"Were Covid and the Great Recession Well-being Reducing?"

Abstract
We examine various measures of well-being, such as those used in the HDI and in the Gallup World Poll data used in the World Happiness Report, and show it moves hardly at all in the face of shocks. we find expectations variables of the individual and of the overall economy are much more sensitive to shocks.
