Alternative Futures seminar series
The Alternative Futures seminar series invites a range of speakers from across different disciplinary backgrounds to speak to the theme of reimagining the social world.
Bringing in a variety of perspectives from internal and external speakers, the seminar seeks to foster an interdisciplinary conversation within critical social science that engages the possible futures from our current conjuncture, as empirical material or theoretical proposition.
Guest speakers will explore topics such as repair and infrastructures, sustainability, and energy futures, but speakers are welcome on all topics with an orientation to the future. We are particularly interested in inviting early career academics to join us to discuss their work.
These consist of a standard seminar structure, with a talk from the seminar speaker followed by a Q&A. The events are free to attend and are held throughout the academic year, usually on the last Friday afternoon of each month at 3.30pm.
